I was planning on buying a cordless optical mouse for travel use. As I was browsing for reviews in the internet, I came across Logitech and A4Tech.

A4Tech offered power saving mice but then I was concerned with quality and support. Although my home desktop has been using an A4Tech 3D mouse for 3 years now, I was still concerned of its rigidness for travel use.

My previous office mouse wasn’t exactly a mouse and it wasn’t meant for business travels. It was a Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel. It was basically a trackball in steroids. I had to change batteries almost every 3 months. Now most of my officemates also use Logitech mice and saw how useful it was for them. Okay so I gave in to peer pressure. I narrowed my search to Logitech mice.

After browsing around Amazon.com, I have chosen 3 Logitech mice: V320, V450, V470.

After comparing the features, I immediately went out and bought the Logitech V450. As a matter of fact, I’m using it right now.

The packaging is easily opened and can be reused to keep the CD and documentation. Logitech also included 2 AA Duracell batteries. I placed the batteries inside and plugged the USB receiver in my notebook. After a few seconds, the Logitech V450 was already working. I didn’t install the included Logitech Setpoint software because it was only meant for Windows XP and Vista. And my office notebook uses Windows 2000 Professional. The documentation stated to download the Logitech Setpoint software for Windows 2000 from their website. But I didn’t bother. I don’t need the other features. Most features that I need like the scrolling wheel already works fine without Setpoint. In short, it was really plug-and-play!

I’m really impressed with Logitech V450. It’s cheap and does what I need. And what I like best, I didn’t have to bother changing batteries often. Check out the Logitech V450 for yourself.

This is a step-by-step guide to upgrading your PSP Custom Firmware. I hope this tutorial will help you safely upgrade your PSP to the latest CFW.

However, remember that there is a risk involved that you might brick your PSP and render it useless. Just make sure you fulfill all the requirements.

I was using a Slim Sony PSP ver 3.80 M33-5. I’m not sure if the instructions are the same for the Fat Sony PSP.

Requirements:

1. Custom Firmware (CFW) 3.80 M33-x. (Please do not attempt this on official Sony firmwares. Older CFWs will also not work) You need at least CFW 3.80M33-x by Dark-Alex.
2. Wireless network (Wifi). Make sure your PSP Wifi connection is setup properly. You need to connect to the internet to retrieve the latest update files.
3. More than 80% battery
4. At least 30MB memory stick space. The update already takes up 25MB space.
5. You also have to enable the network update of the M33 Custom firmware or you will end up updating to the official Sony firmware.

To check if CFW M33 Network Update is enabled, go to recovery mode:

1. Shutdown your PSP. Make sure it is not in sleep mode.
2. Turn on your PSP while holding the R button.
3. When recovery mode appears, go to Configuration
4. Make sure this is what appears, Use M33 Network Update (Currently Enabled)

Let’s proceed:

1. Go to Settings
2. Select Network Update
3. Select your Wifi connection. You will see the following:
   

   Connecting to the access point
   Exchanging Key Information (This might appear depending on your Wifi network setup)
   Obtaining IP Address

4. It will check if there is a firmware update available. If there is, you will see:
   

   Network Update has found a later
   version.
   To download, insert a Memory Stick
   with at least 1 MB free space and press
   the X button.

5. Press the X button to download.
6. It will download the initial update. After that, you will see:
   

   Download completed.
   The update is now available in your
   Memory Stick.
   To install now, press the X button
   To install later, go to [Game]

7. Press the X button to install.
8. This will appear next:
   

   Unpacking… done
   390.PBP doesn’t exist.
   Do you want to download it from the internet? (x=yes, R=no)

9. Press the X button to download.
10. It will again show you the network connection screen, choose your Wifi connection.
11. You will see the following:
    

    Connecting to the access point
    Exchanging Key Information (This might appear depending on your Wifi network setup)
    Obtaining IP Address

12. Next you will see:
    

    File Size: 25654469 bytes (24 MB)
    Downloading… 0%

13. After reaching 100%, you will see:
    

    File Size: 25654469 bytes (24 MB)
    Downloading… 100%
    File Saved (size = 25654469 bytes).
    Returning to M33 updater…

14. Then you will see:
    

    Unpacking… done.
    Please wait…

15. Next you will see:
    

    Verifying 390.PBP… ok
    Verifying u235.prx… ok
    Press X to start the update, R to exit

16. Press the X button to continue the update
17. You will then see:
    

    Verifying 390.PBP… ok
    Verifying u235.prx… ok
    Press X to start the update, R to exit
    Starting the updater. Wait…

18. The PSP Update ver 3.90 screen will appear next, press X to continue.
19. Follow the onsreen prompts, select Accept and keep on pressing the Right Button of the D-Pad until you see the option to press the X button
20. Press the X button to continue the upgrade
21. Next you will see:
    

    Installing…
    Do not turn off the power, disconnect
    the AC adaptor or remove the
    Memory Stick
    0%

22. Once it reaches 100%, you will see this:
    

    Update completed
    Press the X button to restart.
    You can now delete the update data
    from your Memory Stick.

23. Press the X button
24. After your PSP restarts, go to Settings
25. Select System Settings
26. Select System Information
27. You should see something like this:
    

    System Software 3.90 M33-3
    Nickname
    MAC Address

Congratulations! You have updated your PSP online!

Yeah I know. I’m a late bloomer. I wasn’t really planning on buying a PSP. An iPod was good enough for me. Then all of a sudden a lot of my officemates (and I mean a lot!!!) started getting PSPs and sharing games. One of them lent me his PSP for the day and I got addicted!

Thus, I went to the store and got me my own Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP)! It’s my Happy Easter gift to myself!!!

I succumbed to the jaws of peer pressure!!! But I love it! buwahahaha!

A few days ago, I almost smashed into a garbage truck when I tried reaching for my ringing phone and swerved the steering wheel. Thus, I resolved to buy another bluetooth headset. My old one, Sony Ericsson HBH-602, has provided me quite a service since 2005 and now the battery’s life cycle has been fully exhausted.

After searching for other bluetooth headsets, I came across Jabra BT2010. I immediately liked the in-ear design. In a few minutes, I paid for it and rushed out of the store with the package in hand. I gotta get it charged! hehe!

This is different from my Sony Ericsson HBH-602 bluetooth headset. This headset has an in-ear design with optional ear hook. This means the headset plugs directly into your ear and the optional ear hook provides you the security if you need it.

Bluetooth with EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) provides higher speed data transfer and lower power consumption.

Bluetooth with eSCO (Extended Synchronous Connections) provides higher audio quality by allowing retransmissions of corrupted packets.

This headset has both features so expect good quality and longer battery life.

By the way, I haven’t tried it yet but the manual mentioned that you can also use a USB cable to charge the headset. Well, the USB cable is not included but you can use the USB cables commonly found with digital cameras.
