Transformers: The Movie – Review

Transformers: The Album

The movie was shown yesterday, June 28, 2007 all around Asia. :clap_tb:

Graphics:
The CGs were done smoothly that you would really think the machines do transform. The production was also very particular to details as you could see small parts moving as Optimus Prime is speaking.

I’m not an expert in graphics but for me I liked how the transformers looked and made me feel like they were real.

I’m also not the “geek” who wants the exact replica from the cartoons. I just liked the way they looked.

Cinematography:
The scenes were dramaticaly done. The transition from one scene to another was smooth. Although I have one scene that confused me. I think it was the fight scene between Bumblebee and Barricade. It went so fast I couldn’t understand a thing. Nevertheless, the scenes of the whole movie was nicely done.

Sounds:
The metallic sounds, the transformations, the voice details were great. The impact of the weapons were effective that it shook the theater. And the classic transformation noises from the autobots were there plus additional small detail machine sounds.

Story:
I have no plans to give a movie spoiler but the plot to save earth from devastation is quite common so it’s a given. Honestly, I didn’t care much about the plot. hahaha! I just want to see the transformers do their thing.

The “human” qualities of the autobots can be seen on the movie. They were particularly funny when they were hiding in the backyard of Sam WitWicky (played by Shia LaBeouf). Imagine a huge trailer truck trying to hide on your roof!

There’s a part in the movie which I hope did not happen. But then where’s the drama if it didn’t happen. Hell, I don’t care about the drama. I want them all together as one big happy family! hint! hint!

Oh, I have a favorite scene, the part where Sam offers Mikaela Banes (played by Megan Fox) a ride home and Bumblebee teases them.

First, he plays the song Drive by The Cars (“Who’s gonna drive you home tonight…”) to convince Sam to offer Mikaela a ride home.

Next he plays the song Sexual Healing By Marvin Gaye

Then Bumblebee plays Baby Come Back by Player (“Baby come back, you can blame it all on me… I was wrong, and I just can’t live without you…”) when Mikaela tries to leave Sam because Bumblebee wouldn’t start.

I want a car like Bumblebee! Now I know what to call my new SUV. hehe!

Overall:
I went to the theater hoping to see the transformers “transform” with all their noise and cool transitions. I also hoped my date wouldn’t be noisy and asking question. hahaha!

I got both! She didn’t ask me any single question. hehehe! :jittery_tb:

I’m sure there would be critics like how come Bumblebee didn’t look like this and that. He was supposed to be a Volkswagen. How come Megatron was not a gun, blah blah blah! Hey, I didn’t care. I wanted to have fun watching the movie and I did!

The movie is awesome! I liked it. I would buy the DVD version of it!

My colleagues in Ericsson and I bought new guns… The Jing Gong (JG) M4 S-System!

Jing Gong (JG) M4 S-System

The estimated out-of-the-box FPS is 415-420FPS. When my colleagues did a chrono on their newly bought guns, it registered 418FPS on average while some guns even went up to 480FPS.

I wasn’t able to chrono my own gun since I was in a hurry to leave. But they estimated mine to be roughly around 418FPS as well.

Jing Gong (JG) M4 S-System

I did some target shooting on the rooftop of my pad and I was really surprised. The sound was similar to high-end AEGs (Automatic Electric Guns).

The trajectory was not impressive at first rounds of bullets. It was scattered with BBs flying all around. However, after several rounds (Approx. 800 bullets) and a few adjustments on the hop-up, the trajectory and target spread became quite impressive. It had around 3-4 inches diameter target spread on a 20~25 meters distance. This was quite normal for new AEGs as the hop-up and the silicone oil was also adjusting.

Jing Gong (JG) M4 S-System

This gun is so much heavier than my trusty Jing Gong (JG) A47-Beta Spetsnaz (Ak-47). The M4 S-System has metal rail system as part of stock.

I like the M4 S-System for our usual Jungle Scenarios. However, for CQB scenarios, I won’t be able to use the M4 S-System as it might fail the bottom-can test and bore a hole on the can. I will need to use my Spetsnaz. It only dents the bottom of the soda can.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with my new M4 S-System. However, I’ll update this post once I get to use it in combat this Saturday.

Edited: May 29, 2007

My M4 S-System now has a vertical grip, Brons Red Laser and a Bushnell Illuminated Scope. I also upgraded the stock barrel to a more efficient custom tight barrel. I changed the stock battery to a 11.1V Li-poly Battery.

The M4 S-System is very reliable in any situation. Although most people believe it’s not very effective in CQB, it has helped me numerous times during CQB missions. There were several times when I would be the last man standing and I would defend the fort with the M4 S-System. I would pinch enemies here and there until my ammo runs out.

JG has definitely made a very cost-efficient gun.

Jing Gong (JG) A47-Beta Spetsnaz (AK47)

I bought my Spetsnaz a couple of days after my first game of airsoft. I can’t help it. It’s so addicting.

I only bought a JG so that the price won’t be too high. I plan to upgrade it anyway.

And last week, I upgraded my Spetsnaz to SP120. I was planning on SP130 but the store highly discouraged it. Now as I was upgrading the gearbox, the spring guide suddenly flew out of my hand. As I picked it up, I noticed, the important piece of the spring guide was cracked. Thus, I had to purchase a new spring guide. But it was worth it, the new spring guide was metal and had bearing support.

Now I have bought a new customized set of batteries. I never thought I’d customize batteries. But I did so it would fit my gun. Man, the rate of fire and the distance of the bullet was amazing!
