As I went around browsing the internet for unique stories, I stumbled upon a photographer named Michael Hughes.
What intrigued me about his work was the uniqueness of his hobby, taking cheap souvenirs and using them as part of his photographs of the real landmarks.
Here are some photos that he took:
Eiffel Tower – Paris, France
Abbey Road – London

Lady Liberty – USA

Great Sphinx of Giza – Egypt
Michael has just released his book aptly titled, Souvenirs. It has 20 photos in postcard format. I think you can actually use it as a postcard.
Michael Hughes’ main website is at: http://www.hughes-photography.eu

There comes a point in your life when you just want to go somewhere… but you don’t know where. You feel that you are called to somewhere but you don’t know where.
I’ve been traveling to different countries since I was 9 years old. I’ve been to the relaxing Grand Cayman in the Caribbean… partied with friends in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles… attended mass in Puerto Rico… saw the beauty of Venezuela… crossed the Panama Canal… experienced the Salvadoran Civil War in El Salvador… snowboarded in the USA… ate my first “clean” snow in Canada… brought my nephew to Hong Kong… stuttered some college Nihongo in Japan… dined with new friends in Indonesia… worked in Malaysia… met a beautiful Russian friend while working in Thailand. These are some of the memorable places I’ve been to.
It has made me thinking… there is still more to life than working in an office. My mountain biking has been giving me the chance to experience the outdoors. Yet, I’m still yearning for more.
Europe perhaps? What is stopping me? Cost? Time? Like I said… I dunno.
But what I noticed is that… traveling is fun when I travel with friends. It is sooo lonely to travel alone… to be in a foreign country alone. So I end up talking to the person sitting next to me in the train… the bus… the cable cars. I’ve just been lucky that these people I meet along the way have been very nice and friendly.
Hey, one of them might have been you. Thank you for visiting my site. Thank you for welcoming me to your country. Thank you for showing me around. And thank you for allowing me to become a part of your life. You have influenced my life in one way or another.
Anyway, I don’t really know where to go… I guess I just miss my friends. Most of them have gone to different countries. My best buddy is in the US. We used to party in LA all night! And sometimes after planning a get-together of friends and relatives… I’m sent to another country on the day of the party.
I am lost… I don’t know where I am… and I don’t know where I wanna be… have you ever felt this way before?
