This was the second day of our bike trip to Lake Balaton.
- I swam in the camp pool.
- We went to Balatonakali on the beach shore.
- We took the train from Balatonakali to Deli palyaudvar (Southern Railway Station).

This was another awesome weekend! Artemio and Gan got butt-raped (biking joke).

This was the first day of our bike trip to Lake Balaton.
- We biked to Deli palyaudvar (Southern Railway Station).
- We took the train from Deli palyaudvar then went down at Aszófo station. Our tickets were second class but the conductors were nice enough to let us sit in first class.
- Biked from Aszófo station to Tihany
- Móni found the geocache at the Calvary of Tihany
- From Tihany we biked to Balatonakali

Móni’s mom got us free accommodation and food in the camp! No one else was using the camp. We had the whole place to ourselves, pool and everything! Now, that’s vacation!

It’s simply made of Apricot. No preservatives or additive flavors. Just tasty Apricot jam!

This is another attempt in my quest to learn how to cook food.

Basically, these are the ingredients that I used:

1 kilo ground pork
2 tbsps oil
2-3 pieces of crushed garlic cloves
1/2 piece of onion (onions are huge here in Budapest)
1 can of tomato sauce (I honestly dunno the size)
1/4 cup water
1/2 bag of carrots and peas mix (okay I cheated a bit)
salt and pepper to your taste

I called my sister back home and my friend Aileen here in Budapest for some advice. I couldn’t seem to remember any of their instructions. lol!

Anyway, so I “experimented” on my own. I heated over low fire around 2 tbsps of oil. Added onions and garlic. Then when they “looked” cooked, I added the ground pork. Continued stirring until the meat has gone brown.

After a while I added half a can of tomato sauce. I noticed, where did the tomato go? So I added more. hahaha! Then I added some water. Eventually, I added the carrots and peas mix and continued to stir. Added salt and pepper.

And there you have it. My very own Giniling Na Baboy (Ground Pork). Tadaa!

- Updated iTunes to latest version: iTunes 9.2.1.5 for Windows and Mac
- Downloaded iOS 4.0.1: iPhone 3GS firmware

Okay so my iPhone 3GS crashed on me while we were in Pécs, Hungary. And I was on tethered jailbreak with Blackra1n because it had the latest bootrom. This meant I needed my laptop to power up my iPhone. To make it short, my iPhone was useless to take the photo of the day so I had to use my Canon 450D.

This was taken at the residence of Peter’s grandparents at Hidas, Hungary. It’s near Pécs, Hungary. It’s a very beautiful home. You could sit at the porch or at the swing all day!

Oh yeah, the homemade food was delicious! Peter’s grandparents cooked the best Hungarian dishes. Peter’s cousin also gave each of us free homemade red wines.

Thanks to Peter and Móni for showing Gan and me the beauty of the countryside of Hungary. We met some of Peter’s relatives. We stopped to play in the fields with the rolled straws (szalmabála). It was a memorable road trip.

[Project 365] Geocache: In the Heart of Pécs

On our road trip to Pécs, we found a geocache. Fortunately, before my iPhone crashed, we were able to find the correct coordinates. Gan again was very good in finding the cache.

Pécs is another city in Hungary. It’s currently the European Capital of Culture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Capital_of_Culture. It is not as big as Budapest but I could say it is beautiful.

Okay sorry. I can’t resist it. It’s StarCraft! I got me StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty!

I’m so happy that it runs well on my laptop. Of course, the graphics were automatically set to low. I tried increasing the graphics to medium and it was still running well. But when I increased to high, the gameplay was stuttering. Nevertheless, the low quality is still beautiful.

I just need to remember to spend time outdoors with friends and not be addicted to playing games again.

I went to Euro Center to have a haircut. Unfortunately, Klier Salon was closed already. I went to Flórián Tér but it was also closed.

I went home and decided to cut my own hair. Since I already have a Philips hair shaver, I proceeded to have my own haircut.

Okay, one important lesson… never cut or shave your hair when you’re drinking Bacardi Cola. It’s okay if you maintain the same shaver adjustment. But never attempt to have a taper style shave when drinking and no extra mirror.

To make the story short, my hair at the nape was terrible. I eventually had to go to a barber the next day to get it fixed. lol!

Artemio, Fadzly, Jin, and I decided to play bowling. Only three of us played since Fadzly is still recovering from his knee operation. Jin suggested a simple wager. Last place would pay 50%, second place would pay 30%, and the first place would pay 20%. Artemio won twice. I won once. And Jin was unfortunately on last place. hehe!

Mireille and Estelle met up with us and we decided to go to the Pest side. We met up with Orsi and Richard at B Seven. We decided to move over to de Place.

Fadzly was so pissed drunk again… singing on the streets of Budapest! lol! Estelle captured him on video.

Aziz, Artemio, Fadzly, and I watched Inception at MOM Park. Aziz went home then we went to Vapiano Vaci utca for dinner. Met up with Gan. Went to Gödör Klub just to hang out. Finally, walked to Subway Oktagon for a morning snack.

Next time somebody asks, “Dude, what did we do last Friday?” These were what we did.

For the movie, I thought it would be something light. We kept on asking each other, “What the? What level are they in now?” When I go watch a movie, I just want to relax and enjoy it. In this movie, I had to give my full attention and THINK.

A lot of my friends back home said, “Yeah that movie was great!” For me, it was okay. The effects were great. The thing that I liked was seeing Ellen Page onscreen again.

I think I enjoyed Shrek Forever After more. It made me laugh.

I met up with Artemio and Fadzly. Springfield WestEnd got the correct size for the shirt that I’ve been looking for. I was also able to buy a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. I didn’t realize it was the newest release of their Carbon Fibre Collection, Ray-Ban Tech RB8304.

A friend called this Retail Therapy. Shopping to ease your disappointment. I was a bit disappointed my friends and I won’t be able to travel to Prague, Czech Republic this weekend. The three of us were psyched for this road trip. Oh well, we could do it next month.

My sister is gonna be proud of me. I made my first Tamagoyaki. After eating Tamagoyaki in Arena Plaza yesterday, I started to crave for more. So after work, I went to Tesco and bought Wasabi and Eggs. The rest of the ingredients I already have at home.

There are different styles or ingredients for making Tamagoyaki. Here’s what I used…

2 Eggs
1 Tbsp of Sugar
1/2 Tsp of Light Soy Sauce
1/2 tbsp of Butter

I didn’t want to wake my sister up (timezone difference) so I just went online for the recipe.

It’s never mentioned in most sites but if you want to retain much of the yellow color of your Tamagoyaki, you need to use light soy sauce.

I bought a Philips HR1364 Hand Blender for my sister. But before I give it to her, I will use it first. hehe!

The package already includes a blender, a whisk, and a chopper kit. The whisk helped a lot in properly mixing the brownie ingredients. My sister’s gonna enjoy cooking with this.

You could see the toothpick holes I made when I poked the brownies to see if it was baked already. lol! This time, my brownies were cake-like and they were not burned! Woot! Woot!

1) Heroes’ Square (Hosök tere)
This was the first cache of Peter, Moni, and Artemio. Ramgab, the cache owner, caught us from a distance and took a picture of us with the cache.

This was a hard cache. We even went under the bridge to find the cache but we couldn’t find it. We were about to give up on this cache. Gan persisted in looking for the cache and it paid off. He found the cache!

Józef Bem is a Polish General and a national hero of Poland and Hungary.

This cache challenged me because I saw a hint that the cache has a hook. So I assumed it was hanging somewhere. It was weird for me to see my iPhone pointing that I was in front. But the only thing in front of me was a low metal rail and two trees. In the end, it was not hanging from any tree. And that the hook was just a sign to pull it from the hiding place.

After lunch, we went to Vörösmarty tér to check out a geocache. Gan found the cache using the reflection from his sun glasses.

The friendly people from the nearby snack bar has seen several geocachers and already knew what we were looking for. Here’s one of them joining us for a photo opt.

Fadzly and Artemio insisted on the correct hiding place. We waited until muggles having a break from watching the opera to go back in before I could put my hand in the hiding place. Carrying wet wipes really helped.

It took me a long time to find this geocache. I thought my iPhone was giving me the wrong coordinates. It was telling me I was exactly on top/front of it. I was about to give up when I rested and thought… where would I hide a cache outside the museum that is closed? I found it the same way as my first cache (Máv Class V43 Electric Train). Nicely hidden. I’m impressed again with Paleo.team! There were quite a few muggles around with their dogs. I had to be stealthy and grab the cache while the people passed by.

This geocache is a tribute to the Hungarian Olympic Champions. I was already in front of the cache and I had to wait until the muggles left. Unfortunately, they were enjoying the weather so much so I had to be stealthy. I put my bag down in front of the cache to cover it and slowly retrieve it.

I was invited by my Ericsson colleagues to join them for an eat-all-you-can dinner at Trófea Grill Étterem in Óbuda III kerület.

You can choose from a wide variety of classic Hungarian food and other international dishes. You have choices of select fresh fruits and ice cream. You can also create your own dish and have any of the chefs cook it for you. Oh yeah, check it out, the chef is using an old-fashioned iron for cooking!

It’s a bit of a posh place but it’s worth the experience. On weekdays, it’s 4,500HUF ~900PHP per person. And on weekends, it’s 5,000HUF ~1,000PHP.

We arrived at 6:30PM and left at almost midnight. Unlimited food, beer, and wine — do you expect us to leave early?

[Project 365] Rubik’s 360 pwned!

I was able to buy the Rubik’s 360 at Játéksziget in Mammut II. It has been out of stock for quite some time everywhere in Budapest.

It was hard that I almost threw it on the wall when I noticed certain movements will allow me to “lock” the inner spheres. I finally got it! It still takes me around 20-25 seconds per colored ball and there are six colored balls. It’s not fast but, Rubik’s 360 is pwned!!!

This new game from Erno Rubik is very addicting. It’s good for kids (and adults) to develop their spatial-relations skills. The only quirk I have is that sometimes the locking rings would be difficult to turn.
